Girl Plus Environment Awarded Spring 2024 Hive Fund Grant

[Atlanta, GA] – [June 10, 2024] – Girl Plus Environment is thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a Spring 2024 Hive Fund Grantee. This prestigious grant will significantly enhance our efforts to empower Black and Brown women and non-binary individuals in the fight for climate and environmental justice.

Founded in 2019, Girl Plus Environment is dedicated to educating, engaging, and empowering communities of color, particularly women and non-binary individuals, to champion environmental and climate justice. Our mission is rooted in the belief that an inclusive and equitable approach is essential to addressing the pressing environmental issues affecting marginalized communities.

The Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice supports organizations that work at the intersection of climate, gender, and racial justice. By providing resources to grassroots groups and community-led initiatives, the Hive Fund aims to amplify the voices of those most impacted by climate change and environmental degradation.

"This grant will enable us to expand our programs, reach more communities of color, and continue our mission of fostering an inclusive climate movement that prioritizes the health and well-being of Black and Brown women and non-binary individuals."

As a Spring 2024 Hive Fund Grantee, Girl Plus Environment will use the grant to support several key initiatives, including:

• Expanding the 'Protecting Our Energy' Project: Our flagship program that trains and empowers Black and Brown women to engage in energy policy advocacy, aiming to ensure clean and affordable energy access in Georgia

• Increasing our Members’ Engagement in Climate and Environment: Providing tools, resources and community to increase representation of women of color in climate and environmental activism, workforce, and solutions

• Strengthening Organizational Capacity: Enhancing our ability to mobilize, train, and support community leaders in the environmental justice movement
