Grants & Development Specialist

Location: Remote (must be based in the US)

Girl Plus Environment is on a mission to educate, engage, and empower Black and Brown girls, women, and non-binary individuals to stand up for climate and environmental justice in their own communities. We’re looking for a highly skilled Grants & Development Specialist to play a crucial role in securing funding through grant writing, cultivating relationships with potential donors, and enhancing the organization's overall development strategy.

 

Responsibilities

  • Write and submit high-quality grant proposals

  • Ensure timely submission of grant applications and compliance with grantor requirements

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential donors, foundations, and other funding entities

  • Collaborate with team members to highlight achievements and impact for public awareness (including pitch decks, 1-pagers, and impact reports)

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience in grant writing and successful grant applications

  • Experience writing federal grants (includes familiarity with grants.gov and login.gov)

  • Experience applying for and securing six-figure grants

  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • Possesses a robust network of prospective donors and funding partners

  • Budget management experience

Nice to Haves

  • Knowledge of environmental justice issue areas

  • Familiarity with IRA, BIL, and IIJA funding

  • Self-driven, needs little oversight

Compensation & Benefits

This entails a three-month contract with the potential for extension contingent upon performance and available funding. The position is for an hourly contractor, requiring 10-15 hours per week, compensated at a rate of $30 per hour. Please note that this independent contractor position does not include benefits.
