Community Manager

Location: Remote (may require travel within the US)

Organization: Girl Plus Environment

 

Girl Plus Environment is on a mission to educate, engage, and empower Black and Brown girls, women, and non-binary individuals to stand up for climate and environmental justice in their own communities. We’re looking for an individual to lead the recruitment, onboarding, and community experience for our GPE membership of over 400 womxn of color across the US. The responsibilities for this role are listed below:

 

Responsibilities

  • Create and plan GPE in person and virtual events and webinars

  • Manage all aspects of the GPE community hub including working with developer firm to improve the UX and UI, onboarding members onto the platform, and uploading opportunities onto the platform

  • Manage and oversee our mentorship program

  • Host new member orientations and office hours

  • Lead all communications to members including emails, newsletters, Wix inbox and social media communications

  • Build relationships with potential external partners for event or campaign collaborations

  • Monitor and evaluate all website, hub and newsletter metrics

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in planning and executing in-person and virtual events and webinars

  • Strong organizational skills to manage logistics, scheduling, and coordination for events

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively lead communications with members, including emails, newsletters, and social media updates

  • Experience using Canva

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills to establish partnerships with external organizations for event or campaign collaborations

  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating metrics

Nice to Haves

  • Previous experience in project management, including managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

  • Proficiency in using analytics tools to gather insights and make data-driven decisions

  • Basic knowledge of web development and design principles to provide input to developer firms for improving the UX/UI of the community hub

  • Understanding of marketing principles and strategies to develop effective promotional campaigns and attract new members

  • Proficiency in using tools such as Wix, Monday.com, and Google Drive

  • Familiarity with environmental justice issues and an understanding of their intersectionality with social justice and equity concerns

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time employee position, requiring 20 hours a week. This is an hourly position at $22 an hour. Currently there are no benefits included in this role.
