About the event
Amidst the surge of “anti-Dei” policies aimed at programs designed to make communities in Atlanta more climate resilient, families are facing uncertainty about rising energy costs due to extreme heat. At the same time, federal actions to roll back environmental protections and weaken the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to protect lives are compounding the crisis. The dismantling of climate and air quality safeguards, alongside efforts to boost fossil fuel production, is accelerating climate change and worsening extreme heat. These decisions are not abstract, they have direct, local consequences, leaving already vulnerable communities with fewer protections and greater exposure to dangerous conditions.
This event will connect these local realities to the national landscape: communities are being left with few options by federal policy that prioritizes polluters over people.
