Last fall, GPE was invited to be a part of the Atlanta Youth Council for Dear Everything: A Musical Uprising for the Earth.
Dear EverythingĀ is a climate musical created by V (formerly Eve Ensler), the world-acclaimed playwright and activist best known for The Vagina Monologues.
Dear Everything follows a group of adults in a small town willing to sacrifice their forest for money, and the young people, led by Sophia, a teenage girl, whose determination to save the forest endows them with powers they never knew they had. The story explores how young people are navigating the climate crisis and facing the prospect of a future they are being told may not exist.
Andd let me tell y'all, the ATL girlies had a blast at Dear Everything! The climate musical re-energized us to take action for our Earth. We laughed, shed tears, and our hearts beamed with joy watching this incredible performance.

A huge thank you to the entire V-Day team and climate activist and artist Maya Penn for including us as part of the Youth Council and awarding GPE the $5,000 Community Grant.
Hereās What Our Members Had to Say About Dear Everything š£ļø
Danait: āDear Everything was a magical experience. I was completely enthralled! The performers were incredible, and at its core it tells the story of a young girl fighting to save the planet and trying to get her community to stand behind her. It was powerful and inspiring. Also⦠can we please get the songs on Spotify? Thank you!ā
Rakiia: āI was brought to tears at the very first musical performance Iāve ever been to. I loved the story and the way it was told. It really tugged at your emotions. Even if you werenāt familiar with climate or environmental issues, you could still understand the message. I think it helped people feel more connected to whatās happening to our planet.
I also really related to the story. The girl cared deeply about saving the forest, but her classmates didnāt seem as interested. Sometimes I feel that way with people in my generation too. There can be so many distractions from pop culture, and sometimes people feel disconnected or helpless, like āwhy care anyway?ā
P.S. Her mother was an AMAZING singer.ā
Sam: āDear Everything really moved me and opened my eyes to the things happening to our planet. The show touches on the idea of cognitive dissonance and was a big wake-up call.
I found myself heartbroken thinking about the children, young people, and animals who are essentially begging us to move differently than we have in the past. It reminded me of when I was younger and first becoming politicized and radicalized by music like Earth Song by Michael Jackson. The musical put me back in that mindset and made me reflect on my choices and the ways we can all contribute to protecting the planet and ourselves."
