NEEDS AFTER CLIMATE DISASTERS
The Healing Circles for Black and Brown Women Post-Climate Disaster initiative offers a safe, healing space for Black and Brown women in Georgia who have been disproportionately affected by climate disasters like flooding, heatwaves, and power outages. These circles are designed to help participants process their experiences, heal, and build resilience in the face of growing climate challenges.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Climate disasters affect everyone, but Black and Brown women are often impacted the most. This project provides these women with the emotional and psychological support needed to recover from trauma and develop tools for resilience. Our program combines culturally sensitive approaches with individual therapy and holistic healing practices to foster healing in a community-oriented environment.

HEALING CIRCLE EXPERIENCE
Each session begins with a sound bath experience—a meditative practice that uses sound frequencies to promote relaxation and emotional release. This powerful technique helps participants calm their minds, reduce stress, and begin the healing process.

Participants then engage in facilitated group discussions in a non-judgmental, supportive environment. These conversations provide a platform for women to share their experiences, challenges, and coping strategies after a disaster. Trained facilitators guide these sessions, ensuring that each woman’s cultural and emotional needs are respected and supported.

CARE AND SUPPORT
Beyond group sessions, participants receive post-disaster care packages that include essential items to support their recovery journey.
Participants also have access to free one-on-one therapy sessions with licensed therapists, where they can receive personalized support and referrals for continued care after the Healing Circles.
