CLIMATE

ADVOCACY

THE CLIMATE JUSTICE COHORT is here to shake things up! We’re all about ensuring that Alabama’s Climate Adaptation Plan (CAP) is not only inclusive but also led by the voices that matter most—young Black and Brown women from communities hit hardest by climate disasters.

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

We’re gathering 25 dynamic women of color (18-29) who are passionate about climate justice to join our cohort. They’ll get the inside scoop on climate science, environmental justice, advocacy, and community engagement using our fun and interactive curriculum. These leaders will be the new faces of climate adaptation efforts in Alabama, working to build resilient, sustainable futures for their communities.

HOW WE'RE DOING IT?

TRAIN

Our cohort members will receive hands-on training and tools to become climate warriors

ENGAGE

With the help of five awesome local community-based organizations (CBOs), we’re reaching over 2,500 residents to make sure EVERYONE’s voice is heard

LEAD

Cohort members will organize and lead local climate adaptation efforts, inspiring others to join the fight

Building Alabama's Future, One Leader at a Time

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!

We’re all about making this experience unforgettable! We’re hosting three amazing community events, like concerts featuring local artists, to combine fun and climate action. Plus, we’re giving the mic to the people during open mic nights, where community members can speak their truth through poetry, music, and more. It’s a celebration of culture and climate resilience!

WHY IT MATTERS?

Our goal is to empower the next generation of climate leaders, ensure Alabama’s CAP reflects the needs of vulnerable communities, and create lasting, sustainable solutions for everyone.
